No, not Kate Hudson, because everyone thinks that.......Katy Hudson. She's an awesome awesome vocalist who's debut album didn't do so hot, but that was mainly the fault of her label, which folded right after her release. Because of this, her album didn't get a lot of hype. She has been signed with Def Jam/Island Records (which is a part of Universal Music Group) for a few months now. Her sophmore album is supposed to hit this summer. There's rumours of May, but I've heard that it's going to be more like July or August. Her website is www.KatyHudson.com and is unfortunately under construction while her sophmore album is being completed. You won't find any information about her on the Def Jam/Island records site because they have not yet publicly announced her contract deal. If you would like to know more about Katy Hudson, feel free to post here and I'll answer any questions you may have.

Update

Katy Hudson's sophmore album is supposed to release in late September with a single releasing in July.

Glen Ballard produced it (he did Alanis Morrisette's debut which sold millions and millions). Keep an ear out for what's to come. Hopefully she won't disappoint!

Update

Katy Hudson's album obviously didn't release in September. With Label issues in hand, you may hav to wait til January to check out her new stuff. I've heard it, and I think it rocks. And not because I know her. If it sucked, I'd say so. Her musical talent will be a movie soon, but I can't say which one for a bit of time. She also is credited to have done background vocals for Amy Grant's album "Simple Things" (altho you can't distinguish her voice from others). Anyways, I'll continue to update as I'm allowed to, even if nobody cares to know who she is. I'm sure you'll all see her on MTV soon enough.

It turns out that Katy's house was constantly being swarmed by photographers who seemed to think she was Kate Hudson, wearing a black wig. So she took her mother's maiden name of Perry to keep the paparazzi away. Here's a pic of her :
