IT'S OFFICIAL NOW! WOLVERINE IS A GO!
Hugh Jackman and his new prodcution company Seed Productions have signed a first-look deal at Fox, which isn't very interesting in and of itself but gets a lot more interesting when you learn what the first film under that partnership will be. Jackman has agreed to star in the David Benioff-scripted X-MEN spinoff WOLVERINE after X3 wraps. The WOLVERINE standalone movie had been in talks at Fox for some time but it was unclear if they would ever get Jackman's participation and if it would ever see the light of day. Jackman, however, seems ready to get into his trademark character and stay there for both X3 and WOLVERINE, which would essentially be filming back-to-back. WOLVERINE would be Jackman's first tast at producing a feature though he's got a number of other projects (including TV pilots) in the works. Of the recent directorial shift on X3 Jackman said, "It got to be a roller-coaster ride there, but I wasn't worried because the script is so strong...Brett has come in with a lot of enthusiasm and full understanding of the franchise. It has been a real learning curve, as has been putting together the script on WOLVERINE. No clue yet on what Benioff (TROY) and Fox have in store for Wolvie but it'll likely focus on his search to find out exactly who he is and where his adamantium claws came from.
