great point!  If it ever becomes a possibility :-\

I think there should be more options.  I see a lot of hyphenated names and a few circumstances where the guy takes the womans!

Personally I don't really care.  I guess it's tradition so why not but the amount of paperwork and effort to go through just to have your name changed legally is a pain in the ass.  I say keep it as it is... since most marriages end in divorce anyway you don't have to go through the effort of changing it back...LOL

I voted yes, but honestly - I agree, there should be more choices.  I think I voted yes for the silly reason that my last name is wicked boring! haha

agreed .. I reckon it's far too much of a hassle to change names .. all that paper work etc  and all for what?
As Shakespere said .. a rose by any othr name is still a rose!!!
SO what's in a name really???

Plus, I've not been adopted by my husband so that I should change my name .. I just "aquired" him and him me .. so i'm still part of my family who raised me and brought me into this world and who I spent the first (and so far) 24 years of my life!! ...

I voted a 'no' because id rather keep the name that my parents have given me and since my dad is no longer alive and he had no sons then i am going to keep it as a legacy to him  :D

Yes... I don't know why though..
Well, I hate my last name. That's why.

One thing I DO NOT want is to be a Mrs. Joe Doe.

I do NOT want to be called a "Mrs." my husband's name.
I think it's so annoying...
I know most women give up their last name in marriage.

THEY DON'T GIVE UP THEIR FIRST NAME!

I would much rather take my wife's name than even allow her to take mine.  Seriously. :)

Example:  John "Jack" (Gillis) White & Meg(an) White, the White Stripes.  He took her name, and even after they divorced, they continued to play together and he kept her name. 8)

I'm no woman, but I wouldn't count out taking my wife's last name.

Do you guys have really crappy last names or something?

I'll take my husband's name.  Hell I'd take anyone's name.  The more names the better.

Did you already get a jar to keep your testicles in while your woman keeps them for you?

No need for a jar as aking your wife's last name is not about her controlling you.  There is no law stating she must take your last name, is just generally what happens.  So what if I decide to break the norm.

But its still a sneaky way of carrying on the man's name- because you have your father's name, not your mother's- so its carries on anyway.
