Lyrically, Michelle shows flashes of being great but, for the most part, I agree that she's not too good (especially compared to Vanessa).  Then again, I think Michelle purposely writes her songs in a very honest, straight forward manner so that they are more relatable to everybody, but I could be wrong.

I think I know what you're talking about with the cocky thing, but I think that's just part of her personality/sense of humor.  I've read a lot of interviews and seen most of her MB posts, and she's REALLY sarcastic.  And, unlike most artists who are afraid of stepping on anyone's toes, she'll let you know if she thinks someone sucks.  I guess whether any of that makes her cocky depends on each individual's definition of the word.

Oh yeah, and to answer the poll, I do like Michelle Branch but I much prefer live cuts of her songs over the album cuts.   :)

Well I can't really say yes or no. I like some of her music. I really love a couple of songs, but I wouldn't call myself a fan. She is talented.

I never had much interest in her music. I just think a) she can sing and b) she can play guitar. Good for her. That's better than me, I can only do the latter.

Loved the first CD. Hated the second. Liked the Carlos Santana stuff, but only because of Santana. Hated the wreckers.

Her music is cool and I like The Wreckers stuff. I'm going to see their show in 3 weeks so I guess I can respond better after that.

I thin k I have probably listened to 'The Spirit Room' more than I have 'Hotel Paper', and I can remember more songs off 'The Spirit Room' than I can 'Hotel Paper', but when I listen to one, I usually listen to the other because I tend to play them together as though it's one big double-album.
