in new york, we have high school exams called Regents

and i took the global one today

anyone else take regents?

the regents were a JOKE! (at least the ones I took) Math and science are the two subjects I usually fail, so those regents I had difficulty with. But I literally laughed all the way through my USHAG and English regents....one of the questions for the English regents was, after being given a table of facts on a hurricane, to explain why it was a disaster. I was all:  8O . way too easy.

Yes, but you're a freak of nature, and the rest of us have dealt with that.

It was easier than the equivalent standardized test I took in California.

Standardized testing is a joke.  Teachers end up teaching the tests instead of the material.

well, I don't know enough about the last two statements to comment about them, but I wholeheartedly agree with the first one. But I won't get started on why our education system needs some serious revision.

I haven't seen that in all of my schooling. The closest thing I've seen to teaching the test was when my 6th grade teacher passed out a handout on test-taking strategies a week before STAR tests. Other than that, my teachers have largely just followed the California State Content standards, where they exist.
