A friend of mine just posted about that on LJ. I was all :o 8O :(.

What made me really sad was this from the article I read:

Quote
It's believed Mr Irwin's American-born wife Terri is trekking on Cradle Mountain in Tasmania and has yet to be told of her husband's death.

That would just suck to come home and find out the person you are with is dead.
For all you broken hearted lovers lost, go find another one. 'Cause you know time won't wait and you'll be late, white rabbits on the run...

I know, it's very sad, and they have 2 little kids :(

RIP, he seemed like a cool person. Crazy, but like a genuine and nice person.

I am still shocked :(
I really liked him, loved his work, he did so much for animals
At least he died doing what he loved and lived for...

He wasn't about popularity or money or all that crap,
he was real, genuine.

I feel really bad for Terri, Bindi Sue and Bob
I hope his two kids will continue his work when they get older.

i guess they werent expecting this to happen.  definitly think there should be more safety provided for wildlife experts who risk there lives just to give the world a closeup/detailed view of various creatures.

I saw that in my AOL News Page this morning. Honestly, I am surprised it didn't happen sooner. That man is Crazy! But he sure was good at what he did. I used to watch his show. Maybe he should have stayed out of the ocean and stayed with the crocs. RIP

I got invited to this Facebook group earlier today.
Truly sad news. He seemed like a genuinely good guy who just cared so much about animals and the environment. RIP.

He once said that the problem with Australia is "I don't own it mate! If I owned it, I'd turn it into a habitat for the animals" ..

He used to make me laugh at how simple he was ..
He was invited to Bill Clintons farewell dinner and he didn't go
"Nah mate .. i'm not into that kinda stuff ya know?"

His passion and enthusiam for what he did was inspiring .. I really repected that .. He created thousands of hectares for the animals, and brought their plights to the people of Australia, and the world ..

He really made a difference to the world.
It's really sad :-(

Crikey! As an Australian, I can say that this is a sad time for our country. He represented Australia to many people. I know it sounds corny, but he embodied the "Aussie spirit". He really shows how one person can make a difference.

Over on the O-board, I remarked that Steve Irwin had brass balls to go up against the crocs, no matter how much he knew about them.  I did say he had no fear, but I don't believe that now---just a lot less than most of us, and a LOT more knowledge.

For a while, I thought the guy was indestructible.

My thoughts go out to his wife and kids.
