Vanessa put on a good show. I was glad she did the newest new song. I tried to phone post record it, but it came out awfully  . Vanessa was very witty tonight. She told pretty much the same stories she usually does. Everyone got a kick out of the *ATM intro, people cheer* "...Yes, I'm THAT girl" part, lol.

Milwaukee's Nicks fans gave V some mad love, I was impressed.

Vanessa came out and sang with Stevie's two backup singers for the encore songs. Stevie, her band, and V all got together at the end of the show and bowed and Stevie hugged Vanessa, etc. It was cool. I was very impressed with the show Stevie Nicks put on.

Cincinnati Enquirer Review

Singer-piano player Vanessa Carlton, a 24-year-old who sings as pretty as she plays, did a 30-minute solo opening set that included familiar songs like “A Thousand Miles” and “Ordinary Day” plus a few new and unreleased tunes.

Cincinnati Post Review

Vanessa Carlton opened the evening with her too squeaky voice and gushing perhaps too much at how cool it was that Stevie Nicks chose her as an opener for this leg of the tour (Unfortunately, Cincinnati just missed the 10 dates that Don Henley was Nicks' opener).

Carlton is a solid songwriter and performer giving moving versions of her hit "A Thousand Miles" and the more intricate "White Houses." But her piano playing was better than her singing and she ought to really thank Nicks for letting her bring a luscious grand piano on stage as an opening act.

Grand Rapids Press Review

Carlton's 33-minute set showed little of the nervousness that a young pianist and singer should reasonably exhibit on opening night, alone at her grand piano. She did break into a grin and heave a sigh of relief after completing the demanding "White Houses."

"It's such an honor to be with such a great rock icon," gushed Carlton, who demonstrated confident piano-playing and a strong, yet somehow pixieish, voice on songs such as "Ordinary Day" and "A Thousand Miles." "I even dress like her, I guess."

And the setlist from Evanescence243, who posted it here:

Other Musicians / AlbumBuzz Music Reviews

www.albumbuzz.com

A music reviews site with content supplied by some of your fellow NESSAholics. Right now the site is up and coming, but there are some great reviews on the site already, along with release dates for upcoming CD's.

Just recently a section titled Indie Buzz was added to the site where you can find reviews for up and coming independent artists' CD's.

I highly suggest you check it out. CD's are reviewed track by track so you can get a feel for what the entire CD is like, and if it is something you'd want to purchase.

 :)

I got my new Blender today, and I read this while I was checking out the CD reviews section:

Quote from: "Blender"
Those who have a hard time telling apart Michelle Branch and Vanessa Carlton will only be further confused by this pretty, earnest ex-hippie-chick.

... so of course I had to check out her music. It is actually alright. I've only heard two songs. One I wasn't that impressed with (Can't Behave, the single) but the other (Mental) I really liked. So we will see if I can get my hands on more tunes what I think of the CD =).
