I agree with Shades.  It does seem, now that we look back, that she was almost holding herself back, never letting herself be exactly what she wanted.  Good for her for doing it now.

I do actually agree, when we went to see her my mum particularly commented on how goth she was- it was even in The Guardian the next day. I do always think she has had a darker side to her- i think ATM was a one off little ditty she wrote- but the thing is, to tell the truth, i liked that 'little ditty' and her earlier stuff more than her darker.

The loss of Swindler isn't too bad, we did at least get a studio version of that track on a couple of the singles Afterglow, on the other hand, would be a catastrophic loss (if it is lost).

You'd be surprised how little money artists make off their first album/contract/hit song.  Record companies screw artists on their first contract because the artists have no bargaining position... barring some strange celebrity status.

personally, I think she's starting to sound more dumb with each interview... Ohh look at me I'm a Wiccan.. I'm soo dark and morbid i must be Goth... but tee hee hee I've been able to kind of just merge the Wicca and the Eighties chick... I think she is losing her personal identity, her musical identity..

 I do agree with Jason though, she has been seeming to appear just the opposite of what she wants to appear.

Well I guess the last three posts by Vanessa explains that.  I kinda thought so....but I really can't make that claim since I didn't post it.  Of course I did post two or three times in this thread and gave it some thought.....and I'm working 12+ hours a day....
oh well...at least she cleared that up.

just kidding. now it should be interesting to see who's too wholesome to swallow their pride, who actually will like this darker side, who is so obsessed with Vanessa that they'll believe in and listen to everything she expresses, even if it means compromising their self-honesty, and such. I personally dont think Nessa actually has made a drastic change in anything. But if she has I would advise you all to simply leave her behind if you dont like the music. Not that I dont' love nessa but being honest to yourself is more valuable and there would be plenty of people to take your place. I would hope if nessa does reinvent herself we'd see a change of fan base, to prove we're not all about the arists but more the art.

I think when she means dark she means like "She Floats" is dark and peeps love that and so do I. It's dark when compared to the chipper bouncy "1000 Miles". I can't wait to here the album!

I just have the feeling that the songs are gonna be just on the more sad side yeah she might talk of suicide and insomnia but if we liked she floats then i think we would like the album

Yeah! Whenever I play Wanted everyone gets soo interested and are like 'ahh what's that?' I get more of a reaction for Wanted than ATM.. well maybe not..but people are always like 'woooah what's that?'
