I love the melody of the song, and it´s cool cuz it´s one of those songs that as I looked closer,  read the lyrics or played the notes, I just loved it more =)

I love this song. It keeps growing on me every time I listen to it.

So who do you think Annie is? A friend? A relative? A fan? I've been wondering all day...

there's only four seasons
and this one's almost gone
these nights feel so good
but this one's almost gone

I think shes a fan. Given the whole "it's just a song she likes" part.

You know how artists often visit dying fans as kind of a last wish come truth thing? I'd guess that's what it's about.

Which could maybe explain the drink too much thing... If Nessa's her idol she might be upset if she went out and got drunk and made a spectacle, especially if she was only eight or so and is taught that it's bad behavior.

Stronger than the hands that hold you
You sing along to the song on the radio
If I drank too much and I am reckless
Just this once would you forgive this sin?

Hold on in days gone by
Tell me now can you feel it?
I can’t keep this all to myself

hhm yeah ... could be that .. though, I think it's not the fan that's upset or dissappointed in Vanessa, I think it's more to do with VAnessa being upset and dissappointed in herself? She feels guilty. The innocent and elegant Annie has been given a short time to live, however she is trying to live life and make the most of the time she has left ... and then there are some other people that WASTE this same time getting drunk, thus becoming unaware of the world aroud them and wasting this same time that annie is trying to savour. When you are drunk, you are unaware of living. We all think that getting drunk and being reckless is cool, we think we are invincible, but we are not. And Annie has reminded us about the beauty of life, so the question posed is not a proper question. More a rhetorical one ... Vanessa isn't really asking for Annies forgivenness, but because she feels guilty poses the question

though this is just IMHO :-) It's another point of view, and my friends know I have A HUGE tendency to read sssssssssssssssssssssssssooooooooooooooooooooooooo much into things and get very intense ;-) LOL

This is such a sad song!! but it's really good, and the lyrics are meaningful. They remind me of my friend Ashley, who died on her 17th birthday from cancer.

I so remember that ... you know it's been a whole year 2 days ago since my uncle passed away! :-? It's all going so fast!!!

Yeah... i think it is true that Annie is just a fan who touched Vanessa's life.
I know exactly how she feels. Ashley was the greatest girl I ever met. I met her the summer before freshman year of HS, and she had the greatest love for life of anyone I've ever seen. She had a pure heart and didn't have a mean bone in her body. Her smile could light up a room. If she saw someone having a bad day, or lonely, she would always go up to them (even if they were a total stranger) and make them feel welcome and loved. Her ambition for life didnt fade when she got diagnosed, even when she knew she didn't have long to live. She kept being her sweet self, and still cared immensely about the people around her. She could see the brightside in the darkest situations. She brought our whole class She's our angel. I have an angel on my desk right now that represents her, and I think about her every single day. She makes me want to be a better person, and if i can be 10% the person she was, i'd be happy.
"i'm willing to do anything
to calm the storm in my heart
i've never been the praying kind
but lately i've been down upon my knees
not looking for a miracle
just a reason to believe"

Holly, you are a very sweet, thoughtful, kind, giving and caring person. This person must have been totally amazing if you think you need to be better.

the song doesn't need to be non-fictional.

Like some others, I was too caught up in the piano and melody than the lyrics.

Actually, I never get songs meanings untill I read them.

That is a sad song.
Beautiful piano...

My thought about the bones part, is that maybe she just ment she wish she could give anything (not neccesarly bones) for her to live... Almost like saying she'd give her life? I don't know. It was the first thing that popped into my head.

I was thinking bone-marrow, but I might be way off.

Ehh, it's anyones guess. Personally, I'm horrible at interpreting songs and poems.

I guess we won't know untill the night Vanessa tells us this horribly sad story about a girl she wrote it about, and leaves us in tears. :(

hey guys, just wanted to tell ya i posted the notes for this song on the "harmonium songs" thread

oh and... i don't think it's about a fan. i think it's about her friend that got sick or something. because the part where she says that she held her in her arms or whatever... just wouldn't work for a fan.

Yup.

There fact that you keep her memory alive in such a vivid manner Holly means this girl isn't really "gone" she's just not here, but her spirit lives on ... thru' you, thru' me now after reading your post about her ...
Making the world a little bit better than when it was before you were born is what living is about.
