Entertainment - Movies / TV / Books / Biggest Loser Couples (Jan 09)
« on: January 23, 2009, 11:39:40 am »
Hey guys...I'm interested in becoming healthier and losing some more weight this year. Any tips from the Biggest loser? DVD recommendations and stuff I could buy to work out with around the house? I cancelled my gym membership, I lost 30 pounds in the beginning but the gym just wasn't for me anymore.

Thanks for any help!!

It is a part of life, however some people are more severe than others. Maybe she is going through something you have no idea about. You don't just get over depression, or else you aren't depressed. You are just sad. Most people who are depressed usually do not even know. Some people choose to go on medication, while others try and overcome it on their own. I would estimate millions of people overcome depression, and there are some people sadly who cannot and choose to leave their life behind. If she is/was (didn't read the entire thread, sorry) depressed I hope she keeps fighting and is able to get the best help possible. "I'll keep my fingers crossed always for you."

Clerks - Was my copy from netflix the only one in black and white?! I sent it back!

The Wackness - Mediocre, Josh Peck is yummy but other than that I felt like falling asleep.

Polls / What is your internet speed?
« on: January 04, 2009, 12:10:24 am »
My internet has gotten extremely slow! I don't know if I should buy a new modem. (Suggestions?)

I upgraded to 6M today, and they said it won't take effect until Jan. 7 since it takes three days. I like to stream movies on netflix and I take online classes, I need something that goes fast and stays connected. On top of that we have 1 Desktop, 3 Laptops, 1 MacBook, 3 iPhones, and 1 Blackberry that take up the connection. I'm sure the phones don't really take up a huge chunk of that anyway...

Thanks for the help!

I work for Peet's Coffee & Tea.

I'm used to retail. My first job was at Dairy Queen/Orange Julius, second I worked at Best Buy, and now Peet's.

I really wanted to get away from retail after Best Buy but I needed something just to hold me over until a background check for another job was going through, my manager was the biggest sweetheart and I actually enjoyed what I was doing.

I ended up staying and have been with the company for over a year now! I don't get a lot of rude people, mostly morons. When people say Tall, Grande, or Venti? I always say "I'm sorry, what size?" Or if they say "What do you have like a frappuccino?" Of course I play dumb, to make them feel dumb. I say, "I'm sorry I have no idea what that is, and I don't know the ingredients or how it's made so I cannot say what is similar to it at this time." Luckily one of my leads does not take shit from anyone.

Whenever someone is rude to me and I just can't take it (and she's working with me) I will just say, "You know, I'm going to have soandso take care of you" and when she's done with them I have a big smile on my face! And people, do not mess with people who make your drinks or prepare your food. Seriously.

But if you have to be professional or you can't deal with someone, tell a lead or your manager. You do not have to put up with that. If they do not want to help you or you feel their wasn't balance, walk. QUIT! You do not have to tolerate shit from both your management and customers. Take a step back or step up.

The Duchess - It reminded me somewhat of Marie Antoinette with Kirsten Dunst. I enjoyed it, I just felt bad for Georgiana because women in those times did not have many options or happiness.

The Babysitters - Excellent! I was expecting an erotic mess of a film. I liked the plot, casting, and the overall acting throughout the film.

Little Miss Sunshine - Good, had no idea it was taped here in Redondo Beach. I'm definitely a Greg Kinnear admirer, I like his choice of roles! He never disappoints, Toni Collette and Alan Arkin did a great job as well.

I'll admit I was angry and really saddened by the fact that she never popped by to say hello or one of her funny blogs/posts. Her show in Chicago really hurt me because she just wasn't herself and I thought about putting her on the back burner and moving on to other artists but I can't. I love her SO much, her music changed my life, her personality after shows was so genuine and whenever I need a pick me up moment I think of her laugh and that warm smile she gives. I can't put her aside, she probably hasn't put us aside and maybe she is busy or just relaxing and writing new material. At least she's out there living, breathing, and I'm sure of it-writing. Schuyler Fisk is phenomenal but she just doesn't reach the level that Vanessa has in my life. Every artist is different, and she tops them all for me, always. It feels good to let that out. Hopefully she'll peek in and say hello soon enough, until then I hope she's smiling and taking good care of herself.

Loved your post Let, you are wise and insightful. ;)

Good for you Manda. I am too. There are so many arguments pro and against but it's such discrimination, I can't even believe it. The main thing I am hearing from people on the news is that they aren't against gay people they just don't want their kids to be taught about it in school. I don't recall being taught about marriage anywhere but at CCD.

On my way home I saw people for both sides at the intersection. It's cold, wet and 10:30 at night.

Thanks Let. I voted...No, on Prop 8. I think we need to be more open these days and love is love. I believe love is not just man + woman, it can be found in any sex. Its about personality, friendship, the whole package a person has to offer another. Heterosexuals take marriage for granted, and most homosexual couples have stayed strong and are so deeply in love. Some are even part of churches (my Catholic cousin who claims he was born gay, I believe him), let him marry in the church he grew up in. It isn't hurting anyone, and people need to be more open. Some are born gay/lesbian/transgender-whatever, and some people know they aren't. Who cares? Marriage is a union with two people who LOVE one another. Get over it, I'm over it. I'm glad the gays in my life have slapped some sense into me. No on Prop 8!

I believe in the Separation of Church and State. Government and Religion should be kept separate. People should be allowed to be married (same sex) through the Government, but not in a church or recognized by the Church which does not allow it anyway.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Twilight

Oh my God, finally!! I haven't picked it up since I bought it (midnight release) where there was a huge line of tweens. The book isn't that great, I've read SO many romance novels since I was in middle school and its nothing special. Its just another paranormal romance, less sex and cleaner for kids. Bella seems timid, boring, and dry at times. Edward bugs me how he always tries to please or whines with worry every two seconds. Jacob, just a growing horn dog. 7+ feet tall and still growing? Could Stephenie Meyer have smoked anymore marijuana while writing twilight? It's good, not great. I don't see what the big deal is.

haha, I couldn't even finish the fourth book. After I read about Jacob and the baby (pedophile-ish disgusting...) I just can't, ew. Some people are morons, whiney morons. It's just a song and it's just a book, get over it.

I've been into Lights for the past few months. She's amazing, I'm really into anything electro-ish (ladytron, organ, freezepop) and she's up there!! Emmy Rossum mentioned her before summer and I've been hooked, can't wait for more stuff. :D
