I remember taking a computer class in Junior High and using the Trash 80 and we had to call up the internet and put the phone receiver in the modem.

Now THAT is old school.  By the time I was using modems they were up to 9600.

But there wasn't much of an internet back then.  There was just FTP and Usenet and those were pretty sparse.  And of course, local BB's, AOL and Sierra Online.

I remember connecting my TI99/4A to my black and white TV...  Coding some god awful basic program where letters would "Race" accross the screen.  Then to save it I have to hook it up to my tape recorder and sync hitting record and send at the same time.  I RULE old school PC nerdiness...

I'm a Final Fantasy addict myself.  PLayed 'em all and still play FFXI Online on the Midgardsormr server.

You're right Mike.. they have some of the greatest songs.  In fact there are several tours of the music going around the world if you're lucky enough to see them.  I got to see "Dear Friends: The Music of Final Fantasy" when they played with the Atlanta Symphony here.  My in-laws actually snuck me some xerox's of their violin parts.  It's very cool.

I have a huge collection of the music... including the latest 7 CD set from Final Fantasy XI alone.  Let me know if you're interested.

Oh, lord, Mike.  Madison looks just like you!

That is exactly what I was thinking... so much like you!

Congratulations man!!

It is very very true how much we have all changed over the last few years and yet stayed in touch (well, kinda :)).  The weekend I had all of you over at my place is still one of the most fun weekends I've ever had.  And you know you are all still welcome anytime you're in Atlanta.

Give this a go:

http://www.gotoquiz.com/what_american_accent_do_you_have

It higlights just how different the accents are...

and as an FYI... I pronounce Mary, merry, marry identically.

Completely Off-Topic / Who has a MySpace?...

You know... I'll be perfectly honest with you.  I created a Facebook page the same day I created the MySpace one.  I really think Facebook is vastly superior.  You don't have to put up with crappy layouts, mismatched and unreadble colors over dumb backgrounds.  Everyone has the same nice compact layout.  And the back end which allows tagging and more direct interaction between members I think is great.  So yeah.. while MySpace may allow you to create you own personal trashed up "I throw my useless crap everywhere" kind of page, I think Facebook is better at actually allowing you to contact people you know and interact with them.

When I was deployed to Bosnia in 96-97, Wizards of the Coast shipped crates of starter packs over.  The USO would sponsor tournaments at each of the military bases so we could pass the time.  I still have my deadly Red/Black deck and my happy/peaceful White/Green/Blue deck.

I remember back when it was "who has a LiveJournal?" :)

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
