i'll never give up on her... the music means too much to me. she's changed my life. i miss her a lot though. and i'll be honest... the thought of no more music from her, terrifies me. i hope that she won't give up, even if she's playing tiny clubs for the rest of her life. i do wish she would write us a message though.

I sure as hell will never stop loving Vanessa. She is the reason why I get thorough my difficult days. I get very busy with a lot of stuff and very very depressed. But I always know her music is always there. Her music has done so much for me and Like some members have said she will be my #1. I have other people I love and care for their music [Nine Inch Nails, Fiona Apple and Bjork] but Vanessa def. tops all of them and their music. Her music def. has a say in what I have done in my life and how it has turned out. Patience is a virtue kids! I am sure we will hear something sooner or later.

Well I don't really care if she does not leave a message or not. Just as long as I know she is alright. I will wait and see when she decides what she wants to do. Its just a waiting game. Until than I have 3 CD's and tons of live/b-sides/unreleased worth of songs to listen to, pass the time.

i think vanessa is an artist like Kate Bush. they are both very individualistic and put the music first, but they both also tend to shy away from the public. Kate is now a legend, and vanessa would do better on an indie label, but that's just because of the times. it's the kind of people they are. very much into their personal lives, and emerge to make new music, but then disappear again. it's mysterious, i feel. it doesn't mean that either artist appreciates their audience less... again, it's just the kind of people they are, i believe. i don't know though. i've been with vanessa since the beginning, although i tend to not post on the boards i follow it daily, so even though i'm new to posting i'm not new to nessalicdom. maybe, also, i'm just used to kate and seeing aspects of her displayed in this situation i apply it to v. just my impression.

i agree and can relate to most of what you said above....on an indie label you have to work 50 times as hard as you would when on a major.

This is rediculous..why care more than the artist or her team? It's been a fucking year since shes chimed in....and the porn over on her 'official' boards was a huge slap in the face......I can't believe her management doesn't watch out for stuff on the internet.  It totally makes Vanessa and her maganement/label look like shit.  There are underaged members, they shouldn't see that on a Vanessa Carlton site.

If Vanessa didnt care about her fans she wouldnt have kept that shark in her kitchen, and wouldnt even have bothered with another record label, would she? If she didnt CARE about people hearing her music why would she have even signed with the inc.? She hopefully has something coming whether its scoreing a film, stationary, or another alblum. I dont think that becuase she doest post bullitens on myspace means shes given up.

True it would only take about 30 seconds but we all know that vanessa is stuck in the old days (what is she 27? She didnt even live in them... but still.) . Most of us are used to that. Its only been a year since the last alblum. But yes a little update might be nice (a personal one too, like one actually from HER).

So in my twisted head im fighting both sides. But ill always love all the music we have from Vanessa so far.

Thanks for a very useful and informative post.
Loving someone's work (in V's case, her music) is different than worshiping, just fyi.
But if you feel you don't belong here, please don't come anymore and don't disrespect the ones who still believe in V.

blueditty made a valid point, and did not say that their music is similar. Anyway, I suppose you could even say that some of it is- piano + unusual female vocals + a sometimes melancholy or dark twist

I also think Kate bush is amazing!
Kate seemingly went into hibernation for years between albums, and then only came into the public eye again when it was necessary to sell the music. She is a very private person.
