I heard that too!!

I always thought it was and didn't realize others thought it wasn't (I guess I didn't read the thread closely). I didn't bother disputing the fact though, I know my hearing is not always on point.

I've listened to the studio version so many times now, and I think it's funny that after 121 listens, I finally took notice that there's some light background whistling going on over the Oooo Oooooo's and around the 'I thought I heard your voice in the thunder' part

interesting.  ;D

I always felt it was a metaphor for life/life cycle and karma in a way.  Everything in life will come back around.  You'll have love, then loss and sadness, but you will find love again whether it's in another person, or learning to love yourself.  that's just my initial feeling of the song.

lol I don't think she can make it any more obvious..

"it's a carousel"
all I hear is the music
beauty stands before me
love comes back around again.

carousels are beautiful, spin and play music. simple.

...the metaphor is your love life. or just your life in general in regards to "all you broken-hearted lovers lost"

THis is definitely what it means to me too! The line "love comes back around again" is very powerful for me! It's amazing how Vanessa's lyrics connect with you at different times in your life! <3

IN MY OPINION

When you ride a carousel you get on a horse! (most of them are horses aren't they!??!)
Then the ride its over  :'(
Then you can get on it again and ride another one!  ;D
and just enjoy the trip!

So, during the trip I found love, but now it's over. I dont know where the next horse (chapter) is gonna take me  :D
It's like the circle of 'life'  It keeps going!

Yes, that's probably what it means.  :) The "broken-hearted lovers lost, go find another one" part makes the meaning clearer.

Hmm. In the "owl" part, I hear either "owl" or "HOUR", which makes more sense with the song.. "It's the hour casting spells that we're under."

I hear (and have always heard), "Is the owl casting spells that we're under?" The "voice in the thunder" part makes me believe that she can't quite believe what she's hearing (a voice in the thunder), so she's asking has the owl cast a spell to make her hear that voice.

But why an owl? O: She references time earlier in the song, so I thought hour fit better. xD; Then again, with the children's choir and their catchy ooh moaning, it could represent an owl? xD
