okay some one put this on the o-board...and its freaky...

It's Vanessa, to the letter

Stop calling her Vanessa Carlton!

Thursday night, Irv (Gotti) Lorenzo celebrated his new venture with Universal Motown Records on a yacht owned by pal J.R. Ridinger. Carlton, who just signed with Gotti, is now to be called "V" instead of Vanessa.

"V is an old family nickname of Vanessa's, and Irv thought it was a practical decision to use it," explained an insider. "Vanessa says V has always been her name, so it's not really a name change."

Party guest Ja Rule arrived brandishing his own bottle of Veuve Clicquot. "I bought my own [bleep], this is like BYOB," he joked.

8O What What WHAT??? 8O

............please don't tell me they're going to release a CD by the artist name V

....are you kidding me?
>_>
come on.

she doesn't need a new name to sell by.
do they really think that will help?

..well I'm not sure how to take this right now except for surprised.

I mean its not like I care, she could be named anything and it wouldn't affect how I feel about her.
I'm more concerned about the name "Vanessa Carlton" if it changed to "V" will everyone know? will people wonder what happened to Vanessa Carlton? how will everyone else take this?
I just don't want some people missing out on music because the artist is V and not Vanessa Carlton. it might cause confusion.
I just hope it doesn't.

well whatever :?

exactly if she is changing labels to this guy... i only hope he doesnt touch her music...at the most i'm hoping to see better promotion for the new album...

i do not want to see a black guy come in the middle of the song rapping out the bridge while vanessa tries to mouth a few words...

like i said in the official board.... this is really sketchy.
I mean I was alright with VANESSA signing on to a rap producer and etc but I don't know if "V" will ever replace VANESSA...
"V" sounds so mainstream.... and I think everyone knows that VANESSA is not mainstream... shes on the other side of the stream doing her own thing...

You're all nuts!  This is great!  Now she can tour with P Diddy or J-Lo!!  Oh boy!!  Who cares about V's music?  She's got style now. She's hip!  She'll be on TV!  And she'll be on all the pop radio stations because she has a cool name (her music doesn't matter to radio)!!  She'll win VMAs and she'll get the Maxim cover! She won't even have to sing on her next album, she'll just do some photo shoots and show everybody her  bling!

They can get somebody else to make the music...somebody that isn't cool like V.  Somebody who cares about music and doesn't care about being the center of attention.  Somebody like that one girl who used to play the piano and sing the cool songs about vampires and unicorns...oh wait, that girl is gone.

This better just be a bullshit rumor.

don't u people see?

this new producer is trying to get vanessa a larger fan base by removing the ATM side of her. He's trying to make vanessa a totally new artist, and his was is to get rid of the whole name, but keep the V.

I personally don't know how well its gonna work, but i think it's worth a shot

Martin.

I call her V anyway, so it doesn't matter much to me.
